Frequently asked

Good to know

Can an access ramp be installed in winter in Canada?

Yes, a modular ramp can be installed in any season. Since there is no need to dig to install these structures, it is enough to clear the snow from the ground contact points and it is done.

Why aren’t screw piles required?

Access ramps rest directly on the existing ground. Ground movement caused by freezing and thawing has very little, if any, effect on the ramp. The leg height can also be easily adjusted thanks to our sliding-leg system.

Can the access ramp be rented?

Yes, the ramp is available for purchase or rental. Please note that rental is only available in Québec. A buy-out option is also available.

Are these ramps eligible for subsidies?

Yes, our ramps are eligible for the Home Adaptation Program (PAD).

What is the warranty on a Go Rampe modular ramp?

The warranty is 5 years against structural defects.

What configurations are possible for the residential access ramp?

Length and configuration are unlimited. Ramps can run straight, or in a U or L shape, depending on your space and property lines.

Is the ramp suited to a wheelchair or a mobility scooter?

Yes, it is the perfect solution for the home, whether you use a wheelchair or a mobility scooter.

Does the ramp meet current safety standards?

Yes, it complies with the Canadian building code and is fitted with safety guardrails and large landings for changes of direction.

Where are Go Rampe modular ramps made?

It is made in Lévis, Québec, Canada.

Are aluminum modular ramps eco-friendly?

Yes, aluminum is the quintessential eco-friendly material since it is 100% recyclable and reusable.

What are the advantages of a modular aluminum ramp?

Optimal value for money (sturdy, no maintenance, won’t rust/rot); 100% recyclable and eco-friendly; the safest and most durable solution for Québec’s harsh climate. It is self-supporting, installs in winter without foundations, comes apart easily if you move, and keeps excellent resale value on the secondhand market.

What are the disadvantages of a modular aluminum ramp?

Its higher initial cost, its more industrial or medical look, and the grey metal surface, which can reflect light intensely and be glaring to the eyes.

How do you maintain a modular aluminum ramp in winter?

Eco-friendly option: Use sand or fine gravel for good traction without chemicals. To de-ice at very low temperatures (down to -30°C), favour calcium or potassium chloride, which are effective and gentler on the alloy.

Which products should be avoided for de-icing a ramp in winter?

Standard road salt (sodium chloride / blue or white salt) should be avoided. It is highly corrosive and will eventually dull, stain and corrode the aluminum over the winters.

A tree or obstacle is in the ramp’s way — can we work around it?

Absolutely. The ramp’s layout is custom-fitted to the realities and obstacles present at the building’s entrance. The other option is to cut down trees and shrubs, if the homeowners wish.

Does an access ramp lower my property value?

Not at all. The ramps are self-supporting and simply rest on the ground (no holes, no piles, no permanent damage). If you move, the ramp can easily be taken down and reinstalled elsewhere, passed on, or sold.
